Solving Food System Inequalities through Access, Education & Income

Food is medicine - not just for our bodies but also for our souls, our families, our neighborhoods, and our communities!

Fondy Food Center works to find lasting solutions to health disparities on Milwaukee's North Side through efforts that rebuild, renew and strengthen Southeast Wisconsin’s local food system. Fondy's holistic farm-to-fork strategy encompasses growing, harvesting, selling, and cooking wholesome, nutritious locally grown food.

Fondy Food Center recognizes that diet-related ailments among residents in urban areas are often caused by:

  • The inaccessibility of fresh vegetables and fruits
  • The lack of income to purchase these healthier foods
  • The need for culinary and dietary education to help residents make the most of their healthier food options.

Fondy Food Center
also recognizes the unique and positive cultural food traditions already present in North Side Milwaukee, and the need to support these traditions.  Good food has the power to affirm cultures and forge strong connections that are the hallmark of healthy communities.

Fondy Food Center runs programs centered on the Fondy Farmers Market and the community's needs for 1) Access to healthy food, 2) Income assistance to make healthy foods affordable, and 3) Culinary and nutrition to help residents make the most of the resource that is the Fondy Farmers Market.  The agency also builds neighbor-to-neighbor connections through the celebration of neighborhood food traditions.
